in just over 2 weeks

We will be on our way to Edinburgh!

Please pray for us. Here are some suggestions:

* Soft hearts - the gospel is our purpose for going. We're not building homes for the homeless or bringing food and water to the starving and thirsty, but we are bringing life changing truth to souls. Kingdom work that literally determines a person's eternity. But we know that no amount of personal giftedness can accomplish what only God can. So pray that God is preparing the hearts of the unsaved coming to Room 65 (which started last night, incidentally, and continues through the end of August)

* Carrubbers Christian Centre - Room 65 is a HUGE undertaking that requires countless volunteers to make happen. For starters, they set up for church on Sunday, then set up for the coffeehouse for the week every Sunday night, to set up again for church on Saturday night. This will happen for 4 weeks. Now imagine that you do that while still working your full time jobs during the day, with Room 65 at night, and not coming home until midnight or so every night. That gives you a picture of how committed this church is to advancing the glory of God through the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. So the church literally spends itself in producing this. To add to that, they have always done 3 out of the 4 weeks of the Fringe, and since we are coming, this will mark the first time Room 65 will take place all 4 weeks of the Fringe. I'm already tired thinking about it.

* Pray for even more unity (we're all pretty close already), and a heart to work ourselves to death for the Lord, His church, and Carrubbers. Health, strength, and stamina will also be needed in bulk.

* Clarity of the gospel - the week we are there we are handling both the music and the gospel presentations. There are 5 men on the team so we will each preach 3-4 times during the week (7-8 minute gospel presentations).

* Excellence in music - God can use anything, but we hope to be "musically attractive" enough to draw and keep people to hear the gospel. Basically we are playing three 45 minute sets every night for 5 straight nights, so it's a lot of music.

* Our week will feature the coffeehouse Monday - Friday, with a 2-3 hour concert on Saturday night Aug 28. The last time our concert became one huge worship event (a lot of Christians showed up) so it was really awesome.

* 1 member of the team still needs the time off of work approved. We will find out in a week if he can come or not.

* My family - my wife and girls won't be coming, so pray for extra strength for Heidi as she handles even more responsibility while I am gone. Also, my two oldest daughters are not too thrilled that Dad will be gone for so long, so please pray for them to obey their Mama and have joy.

* Finances - we are in decent shape, but it would be nice to bring in a bit more.

* For me - I wouldn't consider myself "busy" compared to a lot of others, but I am the busiest I have been in a long time. I prepare 7 songs for worship every week at Redemption, work full time, try to spend quality time with my wife and kids, and with 2 1/2 weeks to go am trying to finish 2-4 songs for Room 65, while preparing 3-4 gospel messages. Also, I will miss my wife and children terribly. I don't like being away for a weekend, much less 10 days. But I am so thankful and overjoyed at the ministry God allows us to do. Makes it all worth it. But August will be a blur, for sure ;)

My name is Rick, and thanks for reading.
